The same trick can be pulled using dry ice (CO2 in solid state, that is) dropped into the white wine.

This has the added bonus of chilling it nicely. Be careful not to drink the dry ice, though. gives you nasty frost burns inside. Ouch.

Uhm... if you really knew your Champagne you'd know that Champagne is just sparkling white wine from Champagne, France. So... really all the video shows is making whipped white wine.

I agree with Shamrock...you've managed to make somewhat sparkling white wine. Although the idea isn't a bad one, this isn't true Champagne!

Regarding whether this is champagne or not (and disregarding what producers from champagne region may claim), there is only one way to tell: a blind test. Put "real champagne" and your concoction in unmarked bottles and ask people to choose the better one....

I want to hang out with you guys! Your just my type of bubbly! As we speak I am drinking some champagne and want to also figure out a way to turn cheap wine into fine drinking champagne... I to was thinking of buying a seltzer machine and thought your video was so funny at least I know nothing exploded in your face? Now I want to try to make my favorite Beringer White Zinfandel champagne out of the cheap BWZ wine....
Sincerely,

be careful with the machine. I am sure that there is a maximum amount of pressure that the bottles can withstand. Check U-tube for some vids. One shows a plastic bottle exploding like a bomb - could be deadly!
